PETALUMA, Sonoma County — November 4, 2026. Two local school bond proposals are narrowly above the 55% approval threshold in first results from November 3. The measures cover different school districts, and the initial figures cannot yet be treated as certified passage.
Waugh School District: Measure E
According to Local News Matters’ election coverage and the Sonoma County election results table, Measure E had 647 yes votes (56.46%) and 499 no (43.54%) in a preliminary batch. It would authorize $16 million in bonds to fund district school improvements, with a projected levy of about $30 per $100,000 of assessed property value while debt is outstanding.
Old Adobe Union School District: Measure O
Measure O had 2,476 yes votes (55.77%) and 1,964 no (44.23%) in the same early results table. The proposal would authorize $48 million in bonds, with an estimated levy of about $25 per $100,000 of assessed value while the bonds are outstanding.
Why a one-point margin is fragile
Both measures require at least 55% support. The early share above that threshold is small, and additional mail or provisional ballots can change whether the legal threshold is met. The first reports also show a countywide parks measure and Santa Rosa Junior College bond, but those are separate election jurisdictions and not Petaluma elementary district measures.
Next steps
Sonoma County elections officials will process ballots postmarked by Election Day that arrive before the legal deadline, then complete the canvass. The county Registrar of Voters is the primary source for later updates. No bond should be described as officially approved until the result is certified.
